Filter Mesh FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between nylon, polyester and stainless steel filter mesh?

Nylon is flexible, tough and abrasion resistant. Polyester has lower stretch and better dimensional stability. Stainless steel provides the highest strength, pressure resistance, temperature capability and reusability. The best choice depends on chemistry, temperature, pressure, cleaning and required service life.

Can you cut filter mesh into discs or special shapes?

Yes. Mesh can be cold cut, heat cut, laser cut or die cut into discs, rectangles, strips, rings and custom profiles. Sewing, ultrasonic welding, edge sealing and insert molding support are also available.

How do I choose mesh count or micron opening?

Start with the smallest particle that must be retained and the required flow rate. A smaller opening captures finer particles but creates more resistance. Samples can be supplied for application testing.

Can the mesh be supplied in custom widths and roll lengths?

Yes. Standard and custom widths, slit rolls, short rolls and cut sheets can be produced according to the selected mesh specification and order quantity.

Which stainless steel grade should I choose?

SS304 is a cost-effective option for many water, food and general industrial applications. SS316 and SS316L provide improved corrosion resistance for chemicals, salt exposure and sanitary processing. Final alloy selection should be based on the actual fluid, temperature and cleaning method.
